Process of Making My Front Cover
- First of all I came up with a title for my magazine; 'Freshers' I chose my colour and font size making sure that this would fit properly within the page. Below the title I added 'A Wyke Exclusive Magazine' to show that this is a magazine made exclusively for Wyke College. Once I had made sure that my mast head looked good, I added a skyline to grab the readers attention. I created a skyline about revision tips so if students are struggling to revise they know they can read this magazine and hopefully get some help.
- Once adding my skyline and mast head I decided to highlight my 'A Wyke Exclusive Magazine' to make this appear to stand out more. I then added my first feature story based on NUS Extra Discounts which will appeal to students because they know they can save money on things they may be wanting to buy.
- I then decided to add more feature stories based on things to do with college, so things such as upcoming events and exclusive interviews.
- Once I had taken all my possible front cover photos, I went with the one I thought looked the best and could appeal to the audience more. I placed my main image so that it was in clear view and there was nothing to block it. Although, once I'd placed my image the text was slightly hard to read and didn't stand out so I decided to create a white background to where I had placed my text, which you can see stands out more.
- Finally, to finish my magazine front cover off I decided to add an extra feature story to fill up space and make it appear more 'busy'. I added a barcode as this must be placed on all magazines so that people are able to buy it and I also added a plug on the right hand side showing that there's a competition to win an Apple Mac for the college. Once I had placed everything correctly and was happy with how it looked, I had a finished product.
